For Teachers & Librarians

A better reading day.
Every single day.

What LibraryAid actually feels like to use.

You know your students aren't reading enough. You know the right book for the right child would change everything. You just haven't had the time — or the tools — to make it happen. Until now.

The Reality

Sound familiar?

The library is there. The books are there. But matching the right book to the right child — accounting for their reading level, their interests, where they are in a series, what their class is studying — takes time a teacher simply doesn't have. So students wander the shelves and reach for the familiar. The same genre. The same authors. The same comfortable plateau. Meanwhile you're running on instinct and hoping for the best.

LibraryAid was built by a teacher who lived this problem. Every feature exists to solve a specific part of it.

The Dashboard

Monday morning clarity.

Log in. See everything. Every student's reading level, their current book, their VIPERS comprehension scores, how many books they've read this term — all in one clean view.

No chasing. No guessing. No spreadsheets. The information you need to teach reading well is right there, updated automatically every time a student completes a quiz.

  • Class view showing every student at a glance
  • Reading levels updated continuously by quiz performance
  • VIPERS scores across all 6 comprehension skills
  • Books read, reviews written, challenges completed
  • Flag students who haven't logged in recently

Reading Age Assessment

A reliable baseline. In minutes. For the whole class.

LibraryAid's built-in adaptive reading assessment runs once per student and gives you a precise baseline reading age across 13 bands from 6.0 to 12.0 years. Assign it to your whole class in one click. The assessment adapts in real time — two correct answers moves the student up a band, two wrong moves them down — so it homes in on the true level fast without frustrating the child.

Results are never shown to students. This is teacher data only — a foundation for every recommendation, every grouping decision, every conversation with parents.

From that point on, the reading level stays live. The blended level formula weights 60% to the initial assessment and 40% to ongoing quiz performance — so as students grow, LibraryAid knows.

VIPERS Comprehension Tracking

Know exactly what to teach next.

Every book in LibraryAid has 30 AI-generated VIPERS questions — Vocabulary, Inference, Prediction, Explanation, Retrieval, Summarise — scaling from easy to medium to hard.

Every quiz a student completes feeds into a rolling comprehension profile. You see exactly which skills are strong and which need work — not just for one student, but across your whole class at once.

Inference weak across the board? You know what to teach this week. One student struggling with Vocabulary while everyone else is fine? You can act on that before it becomes a problem.

  • 30 questions per book — easy, medium, hard
  • All 6 VIPERS skills tracked individually per student
  • Class-level view shows patterns across your whole group
  • Rolling profile updates with every quiz completed

AI Recommendations

Not a book list. A match engine.

LibraryAid analyses 30+ factors for every student — reading level, favourite genres, favourite authors, series they're mid-way through, curriculum topics being studied in class, books their classmates have loved, award status, and more.

The Quality Metrics Dashboard shows you the health of each student's recommendation set. Average rating. Interest match percentage. Author diversity. Genre diversity. Overall quality score. You can see exactly how well the AI is performing for each child — and adjust preferences if needed.

  • 30+ factors analysed per student
  • Up to 100 personalised recommendations per student
  • Only recommends books physically on your shelves today
  • Quality Metrics Dashboard with visual analytics
  • Reading level distribution, genre coverage, match score charts

Smart Purchase Recommendations

Spend your book budget on exactly what's missing.

LibraryAid scans your entire catalogue against 1,300+ curated titles from the most respected award lists and reading programmes in the UK. It tells you exactly which award-winning books you don't have — filterable by year group, fiction or non-fiction, and award source.

Every gap comes with a direct Bookshop.org and Amazon buy link. One session with this tool, and you know precisely where to spend your budget to have the biggest impact on what your students can discover.

Review Moderation

Student reviews. Teacher approved.

When a student finishes a book, they write a review. That review goes into your moderation queue before it reaches a single classmate. You approve, reject, or leave feedback.

The reviews that pass become the most powerful discovery signal in your library — genuine peer recommendations from children who've read the book. Far more convincing than any blurb.

  • Every review held in queue before going live
  • Approve, reject, or send feedback from the dashboard
  • Approved reviews boost book visibility for classmates
  • Students earn genre points for every approved review

Library Management

The whole library. Actually managed.

QR and barcode scanning. Checkout and return tracking. Overdue alerts. Label printing. Five report types. Dewey, genre, or your existing classification — whichever you already use.

Upload your existing catalogue via CSV and most schools are running within a week. Just title and author is enough — LibraryAid automatically finds missing ISBNs, cover images, and genre classifications for you. No expensive migration project. No consultant. No Follett Destiny licence.

  • QR and barcode scanning for checkout and return
  • Overdue alerts sent automatically
  • 5 circulation report types
  • Reservation queue — students join waiting lists for popular books
  • CSV catalogue upload — up and running in days, no ISBN clean-up required

Beyond the Classroom

Reading that doesn't stop at the school gate.

Parent Portal

Parents see their child's reading progress, comprehension data, and AI-generated home reading recommendations directly through their own portal. They know what their child is reading, how they're doing, and what to look for in a bookshop. Reading becomes a conversation that continues at home.

Reading Challenges

Push reading challenges to your whole class at once — a genre to explore, an author to try, a number of books to read this term. District admins can push challenges down to all schools simultaneously, creating school-wide or district-wide reading events that everyone works toward together.

District Dashboard

For coordinators managing multiple schools.

One login. Every school in your district in a single dashboard. Nightly metric aggregation shows reading progress, library usage, and comprehension data across all your schools. Compare performance, push reading challenges to the whole district, and identify where support is needed — without visiting a single building.

30+ Factors analysed per student recommendation
100 Personalised recommendations per student
1,300+ Curated titles checked for purchase gaps
13 Reading age bands — 6.0 to 12.0 years
21 Genres tracked with individual VIPERS profiles
30 AI-generated VIPERS questions per book

"LibraryAid has completely changed how my students engage with our library. Before, they'd pick the same books or wander aimlessly. Now they're genuinely excited to see their personalised recommendations — I've had multiple students come tell me about books they'd never have found on their own."
